President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump told her husband on Wednesday that the Paris attacks were a “horrible event,” as the pair watched the horrific scenes of carnage unfold from afar.
“My husband watched the attack in France,” Ivanka Trump said on Twitter on Wednesday, according to The Hill.
“I was there.”
The president’s daughter was responding to a tweet by a user asking whether the Paris attack was a “terrible event” and whether she thought “it was a good thing.”
The tweet was sent in response to a statement from the president’s senior adviser, Jared Kushner, in which he suggested that the attack was not a “great thing” and suggested that it was “a terrible event.”
Trump was reportedly there to attend the Bastille Day parade with the French president, who was visiting the White House to congratulate him.
He also had a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White Star hotel in Washington.
“They watched the terrorist attack in Paris,” Ivanka said, according the Hill.
The pair watched Paris, according Ivanka, who also tweeted on Wednesday evening that “Paris was a wonderful city.
Nice people and beautiful streets.
It was a terrible event and I think the world was shocked and saddened by the terror attacks.”
The White House did not immediately respond to The Hollywood Reporter’s request for comment.
