New York magazine’s nail art expert is not impressed with the nail art trend in the city, suggesting that people who want to look the part might want to consider alternatives to nail art like charcoal, a more contemporary form of nail art.
Nail art, a form of art that combines the art of traditional nail art with a brush, nail polish or other tools, has grown rapidly in popularity.
According to the magazine, the number of nail arts venues has grown from 10 in 2007 to more than 100 today.
“The nail art movement has definitely gotten out of control,” said Deborah P. Smith, a nail art instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles, who has written extensively on the topic.
“It’s becoming a trend.”
Smith told the magazine that she has noticed a sharp uptick in the number and quality of nail designs.
Smith also noted that there is a growing trend of people wearing accessories that are not nail art accessories, such as earrings, hats and shoes.
According the article, Smith is not sure why nail art has become so popular.
“I think the trend has to do with a general change in our society and a general trend toward more fashion and sophistication,” she said.
Smith said she is also concerned that people are trying to make a statement by wearing nail art in the first place, and is concerned about the long-term effects of the trend on the environment.
“What we have seen is a proliferation of these types of designs that are basically a kind of branding of a particular fashion style,” Smith said.
“They are often very ornate, they are very expensive and they are usually made in a way that will look expensive and pretty to people.”
She said the trend could be damaging to the environment because it is the result of a society that is increasingly concerned with being stylish and the aesthetics of our culture.
“You’ve got a lot of people who are very much invested in being fashion conscious and very focused on what their look is,” Smith added.
“We have to realize that this is not sustainable in the long run.
People have got to realize this is a very dangerous trend and we’re going to have to take a more holistic approach to it.”
Smith also cautioned against the dangers of using nail art for personal branding.
“Nail art is a really beautiful art, but you can’t be in a commercial context where you’re selling a product or doing something like that,” she told the Magazine.
“This is not really about branding or advertising, it’s about the way people interact with each other.”
Smith added that while there are certain reasons people might be attracted to the trend, the most important reason for people to consider this new form of fashion is to create an authentic look.
“People have to see what this looks like, what this feels like,” Smith told New York.
“And that’s what makes the nail a really, really important piece of jewelry.”
